For the most part, Ludion produces publications on art, from Jan van Eyck to Luc Tuymans. In the course of our work, we have developed excellent ties with museums in Belgium and abroad, including the Museum of Fine Arts of Belgium in Brussels, Musea Brugge in Bruges, Thyssen-Bornemisza in Madrid and the Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum in Aachen. Exhibition catalogues, museum guides and artist monographs have been Ludion’s bread and butter since day one, but these have been joined by a growing number of general publications on art as well as on design, photography and crafts such as weaving and ceramics.
Ludion publishes artists’ prints too: every edition produced in close consultation with the creator. Our graphic collections and art books each follow their own individual trajectories, although there is certainly room for interesting cross-overs. Ludion’s printmaking list includes Belgian and international artists like Luc Tuymans, Kerry James Marshall, Pieter Vermeersch and Matthieu Ronsse.
And even that’s not all. Our firm also produces exhibitions, such as the successful presentation of photographs by René Magritte, which toured the world from Seoul to Madrid.
The joy of being an independent publisher is that we can be ourselves and aren’t dictated by the market. And that we can continually reinvent ourselves. Something Ludion has been doing successfully now for 30 years.
