Carla Arocha (b. Caracas, Venezuela 1961) and Stéphane Schraenen (b. Antwerp, 1971) have been working together as an artist duo since 2006.
In their works, they deliberately conceal personal artistic style and individual gesture by employing industrial production methods and materials such as steel, glass, mirrors, or enamel. The point of departure for their abstract sculptural objects is often photographs of mundane, everyday objects. These products’ functionality and individuality are reduced to the point where only their original underlying idea remains. They both live and work in Antwerp.
