To coincide with the major exhibition Constable, Delacroix, Friedrich, Goya – A Shock to the Senses (Dresden, Albertinum, Galerie Neue Meister), Luc Tuymans has applied two major wall paintings of Peaches and of Technicolor to the walls of the staircase of the Schauspielhaus, Postplatz, Dresden. These two works were part of the exhibition which opened on March 16th, 2013.
Peaches and Technicolor originated as paintings which Tuymans first showed in London at the Zwirner Gallery in autumn 2012, together with the ALLO! series. The pictures were inspired by two images from an advertising film from 1913, whose lack of sharpness and weak color saturation particularly interested him as a painter.
