The late work of 30 famous artists viewed differently

Patrick De Rynck is the author of two successful and frequently translated volumes in Ludion's Understanding Painting series. In his latest book, The Final Painting, he explores world-famous artists and the works they painted at the end of their lives. In the recent years there has been a marked increase in the attention paid to the late and final works of renowned painters, which has led to surprising discoveries and a reappraisal of their late oeuvres. In the video above, De Rynck explains how we can look at the late work of 30 famous artists from a new, nuanced perspective.
